Help/FAQ:
What is The LetsVlog Community Group?
The LetsVlog Community Group provides a venue for people to host and stream their videos, being compliant with the Terms Of Use of this website, totally free. Anyone can view and share videos, and members can upload videos and use other features, FREE of charge.
Is LetsVlog a Christian backed group? Are you affiliated with any special interests?
LetsVlog is not a Christian backed group. We are also not affiliated or associated with any other social media site. We are a stand - alone platform. We are not part of Ning or any large group or network. Being a member with us simply makes you a member here and not at any other place.
LetsVlog is a not-for-profit social media networking site created to foster civil discussion, emotional support, and thrives on the spirit of community and extended family. We do not have any political, religious, commercial or financially influenced agenda. Our administration of the site is solely based on our established, clearly written Terms Of Use.
What is your site's limitation in terms of file upload size?
Maximum upload is 300 mb. That translates, roughly, to a video that is about 10 minutes in length. The video format quality impacts the size of the file more than does its length. The example given previously is only to be used as a general idea.
If you encounter that your video is larger than 300 mb at the time of upload, it will become necessary for you to convert your video to a smaller size. This will reduce its quality. You may also edit the video to make it shorter in length. This will reduce its size but not its quality.
We recommend coverting your video. There are many different types of softwares that you can use in doing so. We highly recommend the Format Factory. It is very easy to use, free of charge, and has advanced features. It is downloadable at the following link and is free of charge:
How do videos get featured?
Videos are featured based on the discretion of the site Administration Team. Generally speaking, videos promoting positivity in the community will be featured or spotlighted. Also, first time video uploads, such as introductory videos, will get spotlighted. Members can also flag any video for consideration to be featured.
Embedded videos are never featured or spotlighted. Also, videos posted by the AdCouncil will never be featured or spotlighted. Some videos may be featured or spotlighted in the interest of marketing our site ie: when a Youtube celebrity speaks on or about LetsVlog.
More Safeguards On Featuring and Spotlighting:
Video embeds are not likely to be featured or spotlighted. This policy is in place to foster original, community creativity and material for Letsvlog exclusively. While there may be exceptions to this rule, they will be in rare and in few instances.

The steps described above are for Internet ExplorerTM, but should be similar for other browsers. In any case, we strongly reccomend using a modern, web standards-compliant open-source - based browser, such as Mozilla Firefox and not a closed-architecture obsolete browser other companies may provide, because such pieces of software are often deprecated in terms of web standards support and usability.

I tried to create a Channel but was unable to. Not enough authorization. Please explain?
Unlike the Youtube model, channels on LetsVlog basically refers to material that is collectively gathered and kept under one tab. The Administration Team can create or edit existing channels. Here, everybody has their own, personal profile where you include a picture and outline whatever other information you would to share with us.
Channels exist to keep you informed of topics that the Administration Team feels important. Placing these pertinent topics in a tab of their own allows you to better refer to or access the data within it.
Another member is harassing me on LetsVlog. What should I do?
Report the issue to the Administration Team. Do not engage with the person in question. We will follow up accordingly. LetsVlog has a zero tolerance for trolling, harassing, bullying, and other forms of online intimidation. This is simply not the place for such behavior. We take this very seriously.
Why don't you allow anonymous accounts or profiles?
Haters and trolls use anonymity as a way to hide from the discourse that they create. To avoid that and maintain the integrity of our community and content, we do not permit anonymous accounts. For more information or details on this policy, kindly refer to our Terms Of Use.
How do I remove/delete a video?
To remove/delete one of your videos, simply log in to your account and click on "My Videos" link, located in the user panel (top right of the page) or Click Here Now and on the "Delete this video" button, next to the video you would like to remove. You can only delete videos that YOU have uploaded.
What media format is most LetsVlog-friendly?
The preferred media formats for LetsVlog are MPEG-4 and AVI. High Definition (HD) videos are discouraged as uploads to LetsVlog. Our system may not render HD video correctly and the outcome may be a choppy, lagging video. HD video processing has been disabled to conserve bandwidth and RAM and also due to the fact that we are a vlogging oriented site. The need for HD video is minimal. Remember, too, that our maximum upload size is 300 mb.
We caution against using the WMV format. That format propriety to the Microsoft Corporation. While our conversion engines can handle some WMV uploads, there are many different types that it cannot handle and your video may end up with no sound or poor audio. In order to guarantee that our conversion engine is able to handle all WMV varieties, we'd have to pay Microsoft a hefty fee to get the codecs.
Please note: test your WMV files if you would like. Some convert perfectly. It all depends on specific codecs.
Why do videos on Youtube look so much better, at times, than on LetsVlog?
The short answer is that Youtube is owned by Google and has huge resources. Their conversion engines can handle just about any uploaded file format. Youtube, at times, does not even convert uploaded videos to flv format like most other video sharing sites to conserve space. This, alone, gives those videos excellent quality.
LetsVlog has powerful and versatile conversion engines. However, they are not nearly the same as Youtube. You may need to experiment with what file formats work best on LetsVlog for you. However, once you find the right formula, we believe you will be happy.
Lastly, generally speaking, less is more at LetsVlog. The less High Definition codecs you use in rendering your video, the less degradation it will seem to get during the conversion to flv format.

How do I leave LetsVlog or how do I delete my profile?
In order to delete your profile, we ask that you kindly send the Administration Team an email to request this. Your request will be honored and carried out immediately. The main reason we have this process in place is to avoid "emo quitting" - where you may be upset about a topic - and get the sudden urge to quit - only to later on return. This method allows you a cooling period, if needed, before actually leaving.
Why LetsVlog? There's already Youtube? Isn't that enough?
We are not in competition with Youtube - or any other social networking site. Youtube started it all! It's a great place. We discourage anybody from leaving Youtube. Instead, think of LetsVlog as your second stop after Youtube. The reason we see great value in our site is that it is smaller and way less commercialized than Youtube. A smaller community means that you will get more exposure and feedback. The Youtube community is huge. We are small. This is good.
It sounds like this site is big on censorship. Is that true?
Regarding rumors or first impressions you may have already formed, we basically ask that you give us a clean slate chance of your own. Make your own decisions and conclusions. However, it is true that LetsVlog is not for everyone. In reality, no site is truthfully for everybody. That is what makes the Internet so diverse and wonderful.
The word censorship has a bad connotation. In reality, the word to use more precisely when speaking about our Terms of Use is "respect". We expect you to respect so that others will respect you. We expect you to respect our house rules so that you can remain with us.
Similar to understood, basic rules that you may have in your home. The same holds true here. Our site is accessible free of charge and we welcome you. However, if you disrespect us with your content or with the way you interact with other members, you may be asked to leave.
Call it censorship. Call it respect. Simply put: respect our Terms of Use - regardless of the label - it always gets down to that basic principle.
I thought no ads were allowed? Why is the AdCouncil and the ASPCA here then?
The AdCouncil and the ASPCA are both non-profit groups. They create and promote, independent of each other, Public Service Announcements (PSA) on a variety of humanitarian, healthcare, lifestyle and cultural topics - as well as promoting the prevention of animal cruelty. LetsVlog is taking an active role in spreading their timeless messages by allowing them a profile and bandwidth, free of charge, to publish their media and create awareness. None of the AdCouncil/ASPCA videos are designed to sell you anything, Instead, they exist educate and raise the level of awareness surrounding the many topics which they cover.
AdCouncil and ASPCA videos will never be spotlighted or featured - so they will never take away from the real focus of our site - which is, of course, you!
Letsvlog is supposed to be advertisement-free, commercialism-free. Why is Essetino ConneXions here?
Through a mutual agreement, Essetino ConneXions has been granted access to Letsvlog to promote their services. They have both a Channel and a Member Profile. The agreement reached by both parties benefits both parties. Essetino ConneXions' partners are both active vlogging members of Letsvlog. The Letsvlog Community Group and Essetino ConneXions are seperate entities - and, as such, do not share any liabilities from said entity services or products.

The sign up screen says to sign up only if I intend to vlog. Can't I just watch and post written blogs?
This is a vlogging site. Therefore, we require that members vlog - that is, they contribute material via video uploads. While blogging and photo sharing are present here too, the main focus of our site is video.
Our method also helps to ensure that no anonymous accounts are created for the sole purposes of creating community discourse and trolling. In short, if you're unable or unwilling to show yourself on video, LetsVlog is simply not for you. There are many other sites that allow anonymous memberships which may be better suited for your particular needs or concerns.
